3. Hosting

This website is hosted by STRATO AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin. When you visit the site, Strato automatically processes technical data transmitted by your browser in so-called server log files (including IP address, date and time of access, browser used, referrer URL). This data is technically necessary to deliver the website to you without errors and is not merged with other data sources. 4. Cookies and caching

This website uses technically necessary cookies that are required for the operation of the site. In addition, the WP Fastest Cache plugin is used to cache pages and thereby shorten loading times. This website embeds fonts from Google Fonts. This establishes a connection to servers of Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), and your browser also transmits your IP address to Google. 5a. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics uses cookies that make it possible to analyze your use of the website (e.g. pages visited, time spent, where the visit came from). The information generated in this way is transmitted to Google servers and stored there, partly also in the USA. Your IP address is shortened by Google within the EU/EEA before it is transmitted to the USA.

5b. Google Search Console

This website is connected to Google Search Console, a free Google service for monitoring and troubleshooting visibility in Google Search. It only provides me, as the operator, with aggregated, anonymized statistics on the search queries through which users reached my site (e.g. which search terms were used, how often the site appeared in search results). 6. Newsletter (Brevo)

If you sign up for my newsletter via the “Zum Newsletter” (To the newsletter) button, I collect your email address. The sign-up is handled technically by the provider Brevo (formerly Sendinblue). The legal basis is your express consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Sign-up takes place using the double opt-in procedure: after signing up you receive a confirmation email and must actively confirm your sign-up. 7. Comment function

If you comment on a blog article on this website, the following data is stored in addition to your comment: the name you provide, your email address, the time of creation and your IP address. The IP address is stored for security reasons in case someone violates the rights of third parties or posts illegal content (e.g. insults). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in defending against unlawful comments) or Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR if you voluntarily leave your email address for notifications about follow-up comments. Your email address is not published and is used exclusively for this purpose. Comments, including the data mentioned, remain stored until you object to the storage or the purpose no longer applies.

7a. Spam protection (Akismet)

To detect spam comments, the Akismet plugin is used, a service of Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. The data you provide when commenting (name, email address, comment text, IP address, browser information) is transmitted to Automattic servers and compared there with a database of known spam patterns. The transfer to the USA takes place on the basis of standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a spam-free website). 7b. SEO (Rank Math)

This website uses the Rank Math plugin for search engine optimization (e.g. meta tags, structured data, XML sitemap). The basic functions of Rank Math run locally on the website’s own server and do not transmit any personal data to third parties.

8. External links (Etsy and social networks)

This site contains links to my shop on Etsy (etsy.com), where you can order your personal reading, as well as to my channels on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. When you click on them, you leave my website. The privacy policies of the respective providers apply to data processing there.

Newsletter “Karte der Woche” (Card of the Week)

If you sign up for my “Karte der Woche” (Card of the Week), I send you an email once a week, usually on Sundays, with a card and its meaning. Occasionally I also point out my readings.

What data I store: your email address, voluntarily your first name, the time of your sign-up and confirmation and the IP address used in the process. I need this information to send you the newsletter and to be able to prove your sign-up.

Confirmation (double opt-in): after signing up you receive an email with a confirmation link. Only when you click on it are you added to the list. This way nobody can sign up using someone else’s address.

Legal basis: your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time, for example via the unsubscribe link at the end of every email. The lawfulness of the emails sent up to that point remains unaffected.

Technology: sign-up and sending run via the WordPress plugin MailPoet directly on the server of this website at STRATO in Germany. Your data is not passed on to an external newsletter service for this purpose.

Storage period: I store your data for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, I delete it, unless I still need to be able to prove your earlier consent. In that case I keep only this information, and only for as long as is necessary for that purpose.
